Since its first publication in 1977, Appellate Practice for the Maryland Lawyer: State and Federal has been a valued resource for attorneys throughout the state. The new edition published this month follows the second, released in 2001, and offers critical updates on developments in Maryland and federal appellate rules over the past six years. Edited by Paul Mark Sandler and Andrew D. Levy, it also includes three remarkable interviews between Mr. Sandler and Chief Judge Robert M. Bell, Chief Judge Joseph F. Murphy, Jr., and Judge Paul V. Niemeyer. The volume is supplemented with two DVD recordings of real oral arguments and commentary about them from the editors, both of whom are accomplished trial and appellate attorneys.
Writes Chief Judge Bell in the foreward: "Appellate practice is neither the best known nor the easiest to understand of the many areas of legal practice; it is special, even arcane. There is much knowledge, wisdom and helpful hints in this practice handbook, just as there were in its two predecessors."
The new edition of Appellate Practice for the Maryland Lawyer is now available online from its publisher, the Maryland Institute for Continuing Professional Education for Lawyers.
