Chambers USA 2015 ranks Shapiro Sher among top law firms

Chambers USA, a preeminent guide to the U.S. legal industry, names Shapiro Sher Guinot & Sandler among the leading firms in Maryland in its 2015 edition and cites attorneys from the Firm’s three core practice areas: bankruptcy, litigation, and corporate law.

Shapiro Sher is listed among five leading firms in Maryland for Bankruptcy/Restructuring, and Firm Chairman Joel I. Sher, who heads the bankruptcy practice, is listed in “Band 1”, the highest of three levels of rankings awarded by Chambers USA. Paul Mark Sandler, Chair of the Firm’s Litigation Department, and Richard Goldberg, a partner in the Bankruptcy Department, are cited, respectively, for General Commercial Litigation and Bankruptcy/Restructuring. Chambers also recognizes Shapiro Sher President William E. Carlson as a notable practitioner in corporate law.

Quoting sources, Chambers USA’s 2015 guide states that Shapiro Sher is “recommended to anyone seeking counsel in sophisticated bankruptcy litigation.” The guide’s sources report that Mr. Sher is “a very fine practitioner” with “excellent judgment,” and that Mr. Goldberg is a “hard-nosed litigator” who is “very effective for his clients.” Mr. Sandler is described as “a superb courtroom lawyer” and a “fine communicator and advocate for his clients.”
