Chambers USA, a leading guide to the country’s top lawyers and law firms, has ranked Shapiro Sher Guinot & Sandler among the best three firms for bankruptcy litigation in Maryland. In its 2011 directory, Chambers also cites four of the Firm’s partners: Richard M. Goldberg, Lonnie M. Ritzer, Paul Mark Sandler, and Joel I. Sher.
In the just-released guide, Shapiro Sher Guinot & Sandler and two other firms are credited as having outstanding bankruptcy litigation practices based in Maryland. The guide reports that the Firm’s bankruptcy team “has been involved in some of the largest Chapter 11 bankruptcy cases filed in Maryland in the last twelve months.” Quoting sources consulted by Chambers researchers, the guide goes on to say that Mr. Sher, Firm Chairman and head of the bankruptcy practice, “is praised for his meticulous preparation and his ability in the courtroom.” Mr. Goldberg, the guide adds, “is a highly regarded bankruptcy lawyer who is said to be ‘a fantastic negotiator.’”
The new Chambers guide also cites the head of the Firm’s general litigation practice, Mr. Sandler, describing him, in the words of sources, as “an ‘absolutely superb litigator.’” In the area of commercial real estate law, Chambers lauds Mr. Ritzer as being “praised for his experience in handling tax-related real estate work.”
The rankings appear in Chambers USA’s 2011 directory, which was released last week.
