Scott W. Foley is a partner in the Firm's bankruptcy department. He concentrates on bankruptcy litigation, creditors’ rights, and commercial litigation. He regularly represents debtors, trustees, committees, and secured and unsecured creditors in Chapter 11 reorganizations and liquidations, and in complex Chapter 7 cases. He has successfully represented clients in the health care, retail, real estate, and timeshare industries. His experience in debtor/creditor litigation includes hundreds of cases involving bankruptcy law-based avoidance actions and the defense and prosecution of preference portfolios. Mr. Foley has represented clients before bankruptcy judges in the Northern and Southern Districts of Maryland, the District of Columbia, the Eastern District of Virginia, and the District of Delaware.
A skilled commercial litigator, Mr. Foley has also achieved favorable results for his clients in state and federal courts throughout Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia. He has handled commercial disputes for a variety of clients, including banks, equipment lessors, landlords, and receivers. Additionally, Mr. Foley represents indigent Baltimoreans pro bono through Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Services.
