William E. Carlson is a senior partner, member of the Firm's executive committee, and chair of the Firm's business law department. He concentrates in corporate and securities law, and advises clients in municipal and real estate law. Mr. Carlson primarily represents businesses, particularly biotech and closely held companies, and universities, as well as individuals in corporate, technology transfer, and transactional matters, and municipalities in economic development matters.
Mr. Carlson has served on several economic and community development task forces, the Community Relations Commission of Baltimore City, and presently on the President’s Roundtable of the Greater Baltimore Committee (GBC) and the Downtown Partnership Board of Directors. He also presently serves as a director of Greenspring Fund, Incorporated, a mutual fund, and several other companies.
He has lectured for The Maryland Institute for Continuing Professional Education for Lawyers, Inc. (MICPEL) on "Business Organizations," "ABC's of Inc.’s and LLC’s," and "Buy Sell Agreements." Following graduation from law school in 1983, he served as law clerk to the Honorable Norman P. Ramsey of the United States District Court for the District of Maryland.
