Shapiro Sher's Matthew A.S. Esworthy named to ABA Cybersecurity Legal Task Force

Matthew A. S. Esworthy has been named to the American Bar Association Cybersecurity Legal Task Force for the second consecutive year. He will serve on the Task Force for a one-year term as the sole representative of the ABA’s Criminal Justice Section.

The ABA Cybersecurity Legal Task Force was formed in 2012 by ABA President Laurel Bellows to coordinate the national organization’s legal and policy analyses relating to cybersecurity, and to compile cybersecurity resources for ABA members. Since then, the Task Force has sponsored educational events around the country, released several publications, and advised the ABA on legislative and policy proposals.

Mr. Esworthy represents individuals and companies in civil and criminal litigation, including white-collar criminal cases and complex commercial disputes. Active in several bar associations and a frequent speaker and writer on cybersecurity, he has served for the past two years as Co-Chair of the Cyber Crime Committee of the ABA Criminal Justice Section. In addition, Mr. Esworthy serves on the board of the Baltimore nonprofit Civic Works, Inc., and of the Clarence H. “Du” Burns Memorial Fund, Inc., to which he is also general counsel.
